RESEARCH OVERVIEW
Our research explores how molecular information can be detected, processed, amplified, and translated into functional responses. Inspired by the dynamic behaviour of biological systems, we develop chemical reaction networks, responsive polymers, and adaptive soft materials that operate in aqueous and biological environments. By coupling molecular reactivity to material properties, we create systems that can assemble, disassemble, communicate, adapt, release cargo, or perform functions far from thermodynamic equilibrium. Through a combination of organic synthesis, systems chemistry, polymer science, and materials engineering, we seek to establish new principles for chemical information processing and adaptive materials for health and technology.
Areas of interest: Chemical reaction networks • Chemical information processing and signal amplification • Non-equilibrium molecular systems • Responsive polymers and soft materials • Dynamic covalent and supramolecular materials • Organic and polymer synthesis • Aqueous-phase chemistry • Biomedical materials and drug delivery • Radiotherapy-responsive materials • Biomolecular labelling and analysis
