Theory of Polymers and Soft Matter

Research overview

Main research interest of our theme group is the application of statistical mechanical theory to chemically complex soft and bio-matter. Keywords are (bio) polymers, supramolecular assemblies, viruses, liquid crystals, colloids, proteins, percolation. Central objective is probing the relation between molecular structure, interactions and self-organisation in complex fluids. Methods include scaling theory, density functional theory, self-consistent field theory, renormalisation group theory, mass action models, kinetic theory, classical nucleation theory, and computer simulations.
