The group of Prof. Dr. Sanjay Rastogi concentrates on the structural analysis of synthesized polymers and their response under different flow conditions. The goal is to optimize the mechanical properties. New polymers are synthesized and characterized using organometallic and polycondensation chemistry. For characterization, the state-of-art facilities available in Europe, such as synchrotron radiation, are used. Structure changes as a function of time, whether or not under defined flow conditions, are thus studied. To optimize the mechanical response of the material, molecular insight is obtained using rheology and the development of coupled molecular models. To contribute to recent product technological developments, a fundamental insight into additive manufacturing is generated.
